Talk about bumps, took me a while to find this thread never dreamed it was nearly 4 years old. Anyway I finally found the tv show I was thinking of. It wasn't Logan's Run but another short lived show called Otherworld. The wall of lights was actually there souls and all the people were androids. This was in the first episode and all of them can be watched here.
